Ch-ch-changes

We moved into our own place about two weeks ago!
Let's rewind a little.

But first,
some squeezable buns.

Our kids don't know the difference between buying a home and renting a duplex, so Ev is just ecstatic to have her own room. Well, she shares with Anna, but you know what I mean.

I've had fun putting our house together on ZERO budget while simultaneously feeling horror as I unpack boxes that have been in storage for two years. For the first time in our marriage (5 1/2 years) all of our stuff is under one roof! (FIST BUMP!) However, it has been a gnarly process and we are now planning on having the world's largest yard sale in the Spring. Its nice to feel a sense of permanence and I'm really enjoying Yakima so far. I miss Oregon terribly, but I'm finding that coming home isn't as bad, albeit awkward, as I thought it would be. The first month we were here, I would come home from the grocery store and sheepishly tell Nick that I ran into so and so from this embarrassing phase of my life. Its hard to establish yourself as an adult when everyone remembers you as a kid/wild teenager. I'm up for the challenge though.
And I still see people from high school EVERYWHERE, but I just have to remind myself that I'm not in high school anymore and I have changed (besides the obvious greasy mom ponytail and yoga pants). Plus, I love Yakima.
Haters gonna hate, but I freaking love this town.
Why?
Apples.

Its apple season in Yaktown, which means frequent trips to Johnson Fruit and the largest Honeycrisps you ever seen. This picture doesn't do it justice, but this Honeycrisp was almost the size of Anna's head. The strawberry to the left is a costco/steroid strawberry that is almost the size of a small Gala, so you can imagine the juicy deliciousness of that Honeycrip.

Ev ate the whole thing.

She also eats a lot of nutella these days.
I'm basically the best mom ever.

Ev is really into pretend play lately and currently loves to give me "pedicures," while she insists that I call her "Tina." Tina is our vietnamese friend who owns our favorite nail salon and gives (NO JOKE) the best pedicures in the world. Every time we go in, Ev gives Tina a huge hug and climbs right into the kitty chair like she owns the place. In the photo below, she is painting my toenails with a plastic eggplant, while sitting on a tractor.
Points for originality?

Anna enjoys spending her free time trying to kill herself.
Sharp objects, bleach, the dryer, plunger, toilet seat, etc. are current favorite toys at the moment. I have to watch her extremely carefully because she is fast and furious when it comes to destruction and self-interest.

Sometimes I indulge her a little.

And sometimes I indulge them A LOT.

Dad however, indulges constantly, which is why I'm convinced that Evie no longer favors me. She is such a Daddy's girl and perpetually makes that known in our house. I however, am grateful that Anna still considers herself an appendage of me.

Daddy's girl, but mom's twin soul.
We get each other.

The other day my Dad commented on how much Evie reminds him of me as a little girl. He just kept saying, "She's just such an interesting child."

What she lacks in self control, she makes up in entertainment value.
Am I right?!
